Chocolate Chip Snowballs

Warm chocolate chip snowball cookies were waiting for my boys when they got home from school.  One cookie just wasn't enough for me and Noah and Preston decided he's rather play football with the neighborhood boys than take the time to eat a warm, buttery, chocolatey cookie (who passes up a warm cookie?).

Chocolate Chip Snowballs

3/4 cup butter, room temperature
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon water
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Powdered sugar for dusting

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  In a mixing bowl, mix butter and sugar until they are just combined.  Add the vanilla and water and mix to combine.  Add the flour and salt to the butter and sugar mixture and mix on low speed until dough comes together.  Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.  Roll into 1-inch balls and bake for 20 minutes.  Let cookies cool for a few minutes and then roll in powdered sugar while still warm.  Place cookies on a cooling rack and once cookies have cooled completely; roll them in powdered sugar again.

I used 1/2 cup of nuts and only put nuts in half of the dough.

Recipe slightly adapted from in the little red house
